Close to the airport is the popular Praia de Faro (Faro Beach), a long stretch of sandy beach, perfect for sunbathing or a gentle stroll.

Travel back in time with a stroll through the winding streets of Cidade Velha, the oldest district of Faro. The town is defined by two distinct areas, Vila-Adentro being the oldest part and Mouraria, where the Moors settled during the 1200s.
Within Vila-Adentro, you can see three medieval gateway arches that form entrances into the town and fantastic examples of gothic architecture, such as the Cathedral of Faro, with its distinctive chapels and gorgeous interior containing ceramic tiles, gilded woodwork, marble, and intricate paintings and sculptures.
